June 4, 2011:Pune/New Delhi Nksagar-Sagar Media Inc: Shankar Das saves his best for the last, prevails over R Murthy in playoff:Shankar Das of Kolkata clinched his second professional title when he prevailed over R Murthy of Bangalore in the playoff at the PGTI Players Championship presented by Poona Club Ltd. on Saturday. Shankar triumphed on the first playoff hole after he and Murthy had ended the regulation 72 holes with identical totals of 13 under 271 on a rain-affected day. Shankar Das (69-69-67-66), who was two shots adrift of the lead in tied second overnight, carded his best score of the week, a five under 66, in round four. His round featured six birdies and a bogey. Shankar bogeyed the second but hit his tee shot within a few inches on the fourth to earn his first birdie of the day. Pune, June 3, 2011: Lankan lions roar at the Poona Club Golf Course and Rohana enjoys two-stroke lead; Perera, Das & Murthy in tied second.Day three of the PGTI Players Championship presented by Poona Club Ltd. was a highly productive one for Sri Lankan golfers Anura Rohana and Mithun Perera. While Rohana fired a four under 67 on Friday to be perched on top of the leaderboard at 10 under 203, his compatriot Perera also shot a 67 to be placed tied second along with Kolkata’s Shankar Das and Bangalorean R Murthy at eight under 205. Govt engages Ramdev in back-channel talks

New Delhi, Jun 2 (PTI) Hectic back-channel efforts were initiated on Thursday to persuade Baba Ramdev from going ahead with his indefinite hunger strike from Saturday as the Congress party held consultations at the highest level to avert a Hazare-like protest on the streets. Indications that both the sides were in serious discussions came when Ramdev called off a press conference scheduled Thursday evening at Ramlila Maidan where he is to sit on fast two days later. The cancellation of the media briefing took place on the ground that there was "serious dialogue" on with the government and that he would the media about the "conclusive" outcome on Friday after the second-round of talks. After reports that civil society was divided on the Lokpal Bill, Anna Hazare on Thursday announced that he will join Ramdev's protest on Sunday but cautioned him that the government would "play fraud" by making false promises.

Centre Seeks Views of State Governments and Political Parties on Lokpal The Centre has sought the views of State Governments and Political Parties on certain issues related to drafting of Lokpal Bill. The text of the letter written by the Chairman of the Drafting Committee, Shri Pranab Mukherjee is as follows: “The issue of setting up of a Lokpal to curb corruption in high places has been under the consideration of the Government of India for some time. In this context, the Legislative Department had prepared a draft Lokpal Bill in 2010, a copy of which is annexed. Simultaneously, some members from civil society have been advocating setting up of a Lokpal and a draft bill prepared by them is also annexed.
