Kanimozhi sent to Tihar jail

Nksagar-Sagar Media Inc New Delhi: Kanimozhi, DMK MP and Karunanidhi's daughter, was arrested and sent to Tihar jail by a Delhi court which dismissed her bail plea in the 2G spectrum scam, saying there was a possibility of witnesses being influenced considering the "magnitude" of the crime.The 43-year-old daughter of Karunanidhi's second wife Rajathi, was shocked on hearing the order pronounced by Special CBI judge O P Saini on Friday but maintained her calm in the court.However, tears welled up in her eyes when she was taken to the court lock-up by police personnel.Clad in an orange salwar suit, she was later driven in a Delhi police van to Tihar prison where she will be lodged in jail no 6. India, Uzbek ink 34 pacts;

India, Uzbek ink 34 pacts including those in the field of IT, pharmaceuticals and hydrocarbons were inked between India and Uzbekistan, which also agreed to elevate bilateral ties to a long term and strategic partnership based on equality and mutual understanding. Yeddy in Delhi with 121 MLAs in New Delhi

Karnataka CM B S Yeddyurappa arrived in New Delhi with 121 MLAs into whom he plans to parade before President Pratibha Patil to prove his majority and demand for removal of Governor H R Bhardwaj who has recommended dismissal of his govt to the Centre. "Governor of Karnataka has been trying to destabilise our government right from beginning. We request President and Prime Minister to save Karnataka, to save democracy by recalling the Governor," Yeddyurappa told reporters in New Delhi. Yeddyurappa and BJP MLAs, MLCs and MPs from Karnataka reached Delhi in three separate aircraft on Monday evening with a plea to the President to "save democracy by recalling the Governor". "Opposition Congress and the JD(S) want to get rid of our government illegally. We will meet Rashtrapatiji on Tuesday with MLAs, MLCs and MPs of our party," he said.

Pak militants destroy 19 NATO tankers

Pakistan, militants have destroyed 19 tankers carrying fuel to US led forces in neighbouring Afghanistan.Officials say a bomb ripped through a tanker in the town of Landi Kotal in the Khyer region and fire engulfed several other vehicles. No casualties have been reported so far.
