Kashmir under radar of National leaders

Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Ram Vilas Paswan gave clarion call for building a political consensus and public opinion in the country to force government to resolve issue of Kashmir.Danish Ali National Secretary of Janta Dal Secular said cleansing of one society from the J&K state was nefarious design of some vested interest peoples who run their shops in varied form and thus government must give its empathy towards the people of Kashmir.He describes two faces of army one at Sikhim with full of love and that of in Srinagar with all suspicion. CPI leader D. Raja said There must be political move for evolving short-term as well as long term measures to settle the issue of Kashmir. He further said allowing democratic dissent, repealing Public Safety Act (PSA) and strengthening Article 370. He narrated incidents of Argentina of mad women movement that led to dethroning of a dictator in Argentina in 70s to the Perveena Ahangar’s movement of kins of disappeared persons, he asked government to address the grievances.Film maker Ashok kaul , CPI (M) leader M Y Tarigami, noted journalist Seema Mustafa, chairman of Association of People of Disappeared Persons (APDP) Parveena Ahangar and several young speakers from Kashmir spoke the gathering.

Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh said political parties in Kashmir have failed to connect with the minds and hearts of people who have time and again rejected separatists’ boycott call of elections by participating in large numbers in the ongoing Panchayat elections. He said that successful panchayat elections are an opportunity to build communication and confidence upto village level.

Congress General secretary after listening to various speakers from the Kashmir Valley gave his eloquent speech and said he is not in favor of demand of trifurcation of the state but agreed of bridging gaps and integration of people of all regions is the need of hour.Digvijay said that Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) could be withdrawn in a phased manner. He said on the issue of stone pelters,is not an act of terrorist and needs calibrated approach,advised Omar Abdullah to have shown weakness by not visiting the homes of youth killed last year in the violent incidents.He said further gave sermon to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who has three more years to prove himself and asked him to act to build confidence, to show sensitivity towards people.“Stone pelters are not militants. Why Kashmiri leaders are not able to communicate with stone pelters and angry youth?” he asked.
