Arjun Singh Chaudhri prevails in playoff to win in Karnal

Karnal, Haryana, May 12, 2011: Arjun Singh Chaudhri of Noida prevailed in a playoff against Karan Vasudeva of Delhi to win the PGTI Feeder Tour event at the Madhuban Meadows Golf Course in Karnal. The two golfers ended the regulation 54 holes with an identical total of 12 under 195 before Chaudhri emerged champion on the first playoff hole.Arjun Singh Chaudhri (69-65-61) fired a blistering eight under 61 on Thursday to equal the course record set by Mahinder Singh of Chandigarh in the previous round. Arjun had a slow start as he made birdie-bogey on the second and third and then went on to make pars till the eighth. The 31-year-old then came up with an unbelievable run of six birdies and an eagle on the last 10 holes. Chaudhri sealed the win with a birdie on the first playoff hole (18th hole). He produced a magnificent approach shot that landed within one feet on the playoff hole and led to a birdie. Vasudeva on the other hand, missed a three feet birdie putt during the playoff.Arjun,

Singapore's ruling party sweeps elections

Singapore's ruling People's Action Party (PAP) retained power with an absolute majority winning 81 of the 87 seats in a "watershed" general elections, but Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong acknowledged that opposition gains had marked a "distinct shift" in the city-state's political landscape.Though the PAP, in power for over 40 years, won 81 of the 87 parliament seats as it captured 60 per cent of the 2 million votes cast in yesterday's election, the Workers Party won six seats, the most ever captured by the opposition."It marks a distinct shift in our political landscape," Lee told an early morning news conference."Many (Singaporeans) wish for the government to adopt a different style and approach," he said."Many desire to see more opposition voices in parliament to check the PAP government."
