Petraeus resigns as CIA chief CIA Director David Petraeus today resigned over an extra marital-affair, saying his behaviour was "unacceptable". The top intelligence official of the US submitted his resignation to US President Barack Obama during a meeting at the White House. "After being married for over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgement by engaging in an extramarital affair. Such behaviour is unacceptable, both as a husband and as the leader of an organisation such as ours," he said in a statement, according to a news agency. The United Nations has declared 10th November as 'Malala Day' in honour of Pakistani teenage rights activist Malala Yousafzai, who was shot in the head by the Taliban last month for campaigning for girls' education. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon's Special Envoy for Global Education, former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, has said 10 th November has been declared Malala Day. Canadian PM meets Pranab November 6, 2012 Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper on Tuesday called on President Pranab Mukherjee and discussed a host of bilateral issues, including Canadian investment in ensuring India’s food security. Mukherjee, during the meeting, told Harper that both the countries need to build a firm partnership as he said there is a “need to encourage more investment in both directions, from Canada in India’s infrastructure and from India in Canada’s resources sector.” The President, according to a Rashtrapati Bhawan statement, said “cooperation with Canada in the field of agriculture is crucial to India’s food security”. “India imports 40 per cent of its pulses and 25 per cent of its potash requirements from Canada.
