Hong Kong International Film Festival 2013 Awards to Bloom, The Patience Stone capture
Georgia’s In Bloom and Afghan drama The Patience Stone inset emerged as the winners last night at the closing of the 2013 Hong Kong International Film Festival 17 Mar – 2 Apr.
In Bloom, co-directed by Nana Ekvtimishvili and Simon Gross, claimed the Firebird Award in the Young Cinema competition as well as the FIPRESCI Prize given by film critics.Asian film,The Patience Stone, the Afghanistan’s foreign-language Oscar contender, earned the SIGNIS prize for its humanitarian values.
The festival selected 20 titles to play in its short film competition and selected Night Shift as the winner of the Firebird Award. The short film jury commended the Zia Mandviwalla-directed film for “a sharp look for social differences… and for psychological details”, and said that it “describes in a cool and very precise way the everyday life of a cleaning woman in a big airport” with excellent camera work and out…

International trade road from Myanmar, connecting Longwa under Mon district, Nagaland via Lahe (Myanmar) was on Friday inaugurated at zero point Longwa by parliamentary secretary fire and emergency services and relief & rehabilitation Pohwang along with chairman Naga Self-Administrative Zone (NSAZ), Myanmar U Ru San Kyu.

Stressing on peace and all round development, U Ru San Kyu said although Nagas were divided by an international border, they should work hand in hand based on mutual understanding and trust as Naga brothers.

On road connectivity, he said the inauguration of the road was just the beginning and assured the people of completing the project by 2014 with better connectivity and sought cooperation from the people.

According to U Ru San Kyu, the construction could not be launched during the military rule in Myanmar and hoped that development of the region would begin with the dawn of democracy in Myanmar.

BJP President Shri Rajnath Singh today said that likely concluding Free Trade Agreement between India and Europeon Union will be stoutly opposed by BJP since it such a one sided agreement  will hold credible question mark on the economic sovereignty of the Country. He demanded that the Government should release negotiating text and impact assesment studies of FTAs particulalrly with EU. He also demanded a comprehensive debate in the Parliament on all FTAs including FTA with Europeon Union.
