Chiranjeevi briefing media. “India has been able to showcase its rich heritage to the world”13042013 Briefing media Union Minister of State for Tourism Dr.K.Chiranjeevi has said that UNWTO Commissions for South Asia, East Asia and the Pacific, today has discussed the issue of development of UNWTO Convention for the protection of tourists and tourism service providers and implementation of Global Code of Ethics for Tourism.
Addressing at the Press Conference after the conference at Taj Falaknuma Palace, he said, the member countries has decided to exchange the best practices and strategies with each other for charting the future path for development of sustainable tourism.
Apprising about details of the conference, he said that “the two Commissions have discussed the priority areas of work to be undertaken in the year 2014-15. During this meeting, various bilateral meetings took place for developing intra-regional and inter-regional strategies.”

Germany will support building up of renewable energy in India by providing soft loans of up to 1 billion euros (USD 1.3 billion) for a six-year period starting next year.

Germany's offer as part of its development cooperation with India was made in a "joint declaration of intent" signed by Union Minister for Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah and parliamentary state secretary in the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development Gudrun Kopp during the second inter-governmental consultations that concluded in Berlin on Friday. The assistance is intended to finance joint development of technical solutions to overcome the problems facing the integration of power grids and also to speed up the construction of power lines to efficiently transport electricity generated by renewable energy sources, the ministry said in a press statement. Five years after the eruption of the global financial crisis in 2008, recovery of the global economy remains fragile. In the third quarter of 2012, the US registered high growth and in the euro area pace of economic contraction moderated. Nevertheless, prospects for advanced economies’ growth in 2013 remain subdued. The US GDP estimates for the fourth quarter of 2012 indicate a tentative upturn on the back of improvement in housing and payroll employment. However, the country’s macroeconomic prospects are clouded by the uncertainty surrounding the temporary appropriations and the debt ceiling. 15 militants, a ranger killed in northwestern Pakistan  The Pakistani military said that 15 militants and one soldier were killed in fighting on Thursday as the army attempted to seize control of a remote valley in the country’s northwest. The military has faced fierce resistance from the Taliban and its allies in the Tirah Valley in the Khyber region, with troops setting out to dislodge insurgents from the heights above the valley six days ago, Media  said. "Fresh clashes started early Thursday when security forces launched another operation to secure control of the valley," a military official said.

Syrian oppo leaders hold talks with Kerry, G8 ministers in UK

Syrian Opposition leaders on Wednesday met US Secretary of State John Kerry and G8 foreign ministers in London to seek a "political" breakthrough of the country's civil unrest on the sidelines of an official G8 ministerial meet with North Korean nuclear crisis and Iran high on the agenda.

At the discussion with the G8 ministers, Syrian opposition prime Minister Ghassan Hitto and Syrian National Coalition vice-presidents George Sabra and Soheir Atassi and other civilian leaders pushed for lifting an arms embargo on Syria to topple the President Bashar al-Assad regime. "I will be joining and convening some of those meetings to discuss the urgent humanitarian needs and the urgent need for a political and diplomatic breakthrough," British foreign secretary William Hague told reporters in reference to the meeting. Celebrating  the centenary year of Indian cinema, the 24th edition of Limca Book of Records has honoured cine stars - Shabana Azmi, Jahnu Barua, Prabhu Deva, Mike Pandey, Ranbir Kapoor among others, with the 'People of the Year' award.

The Limca Book of Records 2013 was launched in New Delhi by Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari, along with Atul Singh, President and CEO Coco Cola India and South West Asia and Vijaya Ghose, Editor, Limca Book of Records. Indian Coast Guard Ship H-191, the fifth of the series of twelve          Air Cushion Vehicles (ACVs) designed and built by M/s Griffon Hoverworks Limited (GHL), UK was commissioned at Mumbai by                                                Vice Admiral  Anurag G Thapliyal, AVSM Director General Indian Coast Guard. The commissioning ceremony was witnessed by Inspector General SPS Basra, YSM, PTM, TM, Commander Coast Guard Region (West) and other dignitaries from Central and State Government.
        The 21 metres long Air Cushion Vehicle with 31 tonnes displacement can achieve a maximum speed of 45 knots. The ACV is capable of undertaking multi-farious tasks such as surveillance, interdiction, search and rescue and rendering assistance to small boats/craft in distress at sea.
