New Categories of Generic Top Level Domains to be Introduced for Brands, Communities and Cities Registration Opens in January 2012 New Generic Top Level Domains (gTLDs) will be introduced by Internet Corporation for Assigned Name and Numbers (ICANN) for the categories of Brands, Communities and Cities and Regions. Applications for the first round of new gTLDs will open on January 12, 2012 and run until April 12, 2012. During this time frame, organizations will be able to propose and apply for new generic top-level domains associated with particular interests or business sectors. Mr Rod Beckstorm, President and CEO, ICANN said this today at a Seminar organized jointly by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), Department of Information Technology (DIT) and the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI). Court to decide on framing of charges in 2G case

  Delhi court will pronounce on 22nd October its order on framing of charges in the 2G spectrum case, involving former Telecom Minister A Raja, DMK MP Kanimozhi and 15 others. "Put up for order on charge on October 22," said Special CBI Judge O P Saini, reserving its order on the crucial stage of the framing of charges, after which a formal trial begins in a criminal case. The process of framing of charges, the court decides as to who among the accused has sufficient prima facie evidence against him to be put on trial. The court also made it clear it would resume hearing on the bail applications of various accused, including DMK MP Kanimozhi, from 24th October. The court reserved its order after Special Public Prosecutor U U Lalit wrapped up his rebuttal arguments on framing of additional charges of criminal breach of trust under the Indian Penal Code against all the 17 accused. Asian age group swimming C'ship Indian swimmers made a big splash at the 7th Asian age group swimming championship, clinching eight medals including three golds on the first day of the event at Jakarta. While Sandeep Sejwal won the gold in the 50m breast stroke recording a time of 28:36s, India's ace swimmer Veerdhaval Khade bagged the yellow metal in the 100m butterfly stroke on Monday clocking 54:86s. The 20-year-old Khade later combined with Aaron D Souza, Anshul Kothari and Rehan Poncha to fetch another gold in 4x100 free style relay. Poncha, earlier in the day, grabbed a bronze in the 200m back stroke in boys open group with a timing of 02:07:76. Fragile security environment in India's neighbourhood: Browne   Voicing concern over the "extremely fragile" security environment in India's neighbourhood, IAF Chief N A K Browne has said it warrants close monitoring and air vigilance.   He also noted that inimical intentions of the country's adversaries are being strengthened by radicalism.
