Dr. Moopen’s Foundation expands the reach of its ‘Healing Touch’ initiative in India

New Delhi, May 23, 2013: Dr. Moopen’s Foundation, the charitable arm of DM Healthcare, a leading healthcare conglomerate in the Middle East and India, has set up a diagnostics facility in South 24 Paraganas, a remote district in West Bengal, India.

Established under the ‘Healing Touch’, initiative-the healthcare related charitable activities by Dr. Moopen’s Foundation-the setting up of the diagnostic facility has been undertaken to address the urgent requirement of people living below poverty line in and around the district.

Dr. Moopen’s Foundation has associated with two non-governmental organizations (NGO)-Human Welfare Trust (HWT), Delhi and Sahayak Welfare Trust (SWT), Molka, to set up the facility in South 24 Paraganas.

The diagnostic center was inaugurated by Engr. Anoop Moopen, Trustee Dr. Moopen’s Foundation, along with Mr. Rafeeque Ahmed, CEO, Vision2016, Mr. Rahmath Ali Khan, Secretary, Islamic Society, West Bengal and other dignitaries and officials.

Commenting on the opening of the new facility, Padma Shri Dr. Azad Moopen, Chairman, DM Healthcare and founder of Dr. Moopen’s Foundation, said: “We are focusing on providing primary health solutions to the remote rural areas of India, many of which have little or no access to basic healthcare facilities. The new facility would provide advanced medical equipment for laboratory tests, ultra-sound and other tests to ensure patients get quick results and timely medical action is taken, especially in the case of fatal diseases. We will continue to expand the geographical reach of providing quality healthcare services for people living below the poverty line in India.”

Dr. Moopen’s Foundation has been actively involved in providing quality healthcare services in rural India. In 2012, the organization launched a mobile health clinic in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. This was setup as a pilot project with the aim to create a complete network of mobile health clinics in rural parts of India.

This year will also see more initiatives under the banner of Healing Touch by Dr. Moopen’s Foundation in Kerala, India.

Dr. Moopen’s Foundation and Charities has made conscious efforts to reach out to the peripheries of rural India, with the aim to meet the Group’s commitment to provide “Care Beyond Boundaries”. The main objective is to provide quality healthcare, making it accessible to all. The diagnostic centres are set up while keeping in mind the quality healthcare which is required by the needy in the densely populated areas, facilitating easy access to laboratory tests, scans and ultra-sounds. The goal is to offer immediate medical solutions to the people in the area, for free or at highly subsidized rates.
Some of the non-profit activities of Dr. Moopen’s Foundation and Charities are Community Dialysis Centres, Early Disease Detection Centres, Cancer Screening and Oncology Radiation Centres, Free   Paediatric  and  Adult Cardiac Surgeries, Village  Adoption Programme, Social

Empowerment Programme and Special Needs Schools for the physically and mentally challenged.

Dr. Moopen’s Foundation is in the process of establishing two more Early Diseases Detection Centres soon under its Healing Touch Programme in Kannur and Thrikarippur in Kerala. The centres will have advanced diagnostic facilities to offer with focus on cancer screening and prevention programs, aiming to create awareness through related research and statistics done in view of the current economic, socio, occupational and geographical scenario.
