Pranab Mukherjee has called up Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray and Janata Dal - United chief Sharad Yadav for supporting him in the Presidential poll.
PA Sangma gives his thanksgiving speech for those who gave him support -- particularly Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa and Orissa CM Navin Patnaik -- who were the first to nominate his candidature.
"I wish Pranab Mukherjee success. I may have lost the elections, but India has lost the opportunity to elect a tribal to the highest post in the country. The poll process has been partisan and a code of conduct is needed," says Sangma. His vote count stands at 257466. Referring to the overwhelming support for Pranab in north-east states, Sangma says the people of north-east are no more capable of standing on their feet. The people are totally dependent on the Centre, says Sangma.
