Taiwanese President Ma's propogate "One China" Policy
On the relationship with China, President Ma emphasized that the current position would remain unchanged, while promoting peaceful development in bilateral ties under his "One China" policy. He said there would be no unification with China, no Taiwanese independence, and no use of force.
Ma noted expanding exchanges with China during his first term in which he had emphasized economics over politics. He expressed his intention to accelerate cooperative ties with China in wide areas centering on economic issues over the next 4 years, saying he seeks a new era of cooperation.
