Doctors’ strike continues in Rajasthan

Rajasthan, medical and health services remain paralysed throughout the state as strike by the government doctors entered third day today.

The situation may further worsen as Medical Teachers have also decided to boycott work for two hours today followed by mass leave and indefinite strike.

Meanwhile ten people have died in different parts of state for want of treatment.

AIR correspondent reports that the indoor and outdoor patients in government hospitals had to suffer the brunt of the on going doctor’s strike. The situation may further worsen as Rajasthan Medical Teachers Association has also decided to join the agitation. In view of this the state government has decided to take help of private doctors in a big way.

Meanwhile more that 200 Doctors have been arrested under RESMA and 17 have been suspended. The Cabinet Sub-Committee met yesterday evening in Jaipur to break the deadlock but could not succeed as the in-service doctors have categorically said that any talks will be held only after government decides to lift RESMA.

The Rajasthan High Court has also taken a serious view on the strike and has asked the Chief Secretary to restore normalcy.
