Israel-Hamas truce begins Thursday

Egyptian made magnificient efforts to bring peace between Israel and Hamas, two ering group,the ceasefire beginning Thursday,Hamas the defacto rulers of Gaza strip.

Egypt official and Hamas spokesperson said earlier the ceasefire would come into effect on Thursday.

Hamas striking the peace deal has found their way to legitimacy in the Mideast peace process, Hamas being winner in Palestinian election but the world rejected them as radicals.Hamas has always said we are part of Palestine mainstream politics but few countries has tagged them as terror group.Jimmy Carter former President of US on his peace mission did spoke to Hamas to reach to consenus on broader terms inspite of unpleasant US President George Bush.

The peace has pen to end rocket and mortar bomb attacks on Israel from Gaza, as well as halt Israeli raids and air strikes in the Palestinian territory.

US officials has been rejecting Hamas in talks of peace process with rejected contact with Hamas because they view it as a terrorist organisation."We'll see first of all whether there is actually an agreement," Tom Casey,US official spokesperson states.

Egyptian proposed ceasefire (tahadiyeh) with Palestinian militant groups in the Gaza Strip will go into effect at 6 A.M. Thursday.

"If the fighting indeed ceases Thursday as planned, Israel will ease its blockade of Gaza next week," Israeli government spokesman Mark Regev said. At the same time, talks to release abducted Israel Defense Forces soldier Gilad Shalit will intensify, Regev said. "Israel is giving a serious chance to this Egyptian initiative and we want it to succeed." "Thursday will be the beginning we hope of a new reality where Israeli citizens in the south will no longer be on the receiving end of continuous rocket attacks," Regev said. Egypt and Hamas, which controls the coastal strip, both announced Tuesday that a cease-fire will go into effect Thursday morning.

Army Radio reported that Defense Minister Ehud Barak, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni all approved the deal.

Gilad emphasized Wednesday, however, that the truce does not constitute a peace deal.

"This is not a peace agreement. There is an understanding that is based on the effectiveness of military activities until now, and the will to stop it.
"Both sides have pledged to halt all hostilities and all military activities against each other," Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hossam Zaki said in Cairo Tuesday.

Gilad met Tuesday with Egyptian intelligence chief General Omar Suleiman. The Hamas delegation from Gaza, who met with Suleiman at the beginning of the week, is still in Cairo.Egypt efforts shuttling between the parties to conclude the deal.

Defense Ministry official Major General Amos Gilad returned to Israel overnight with the final agreement and reported to Barak.Israel official said three days of calm, has pledged to ease the economic siege of the Gaza Strip and allow a large shipment of raw materials and merchandise through the border crossings. A few days later the Egyptians have pledges to renew intensive talks in Cairo for the release of Shalit. The talks will be coordinated by Olmert's point man on prisoner negotiations, Ofer Dekel.

Shin Bet security service head Yuval Diskin deputed to evaluate whether the clause in the agreement to cut the smuggling of arms significantly has been kept. The arms smuggling goes via Sinai to the Strip. Israel sees progress on these two fronts, it will remove its objection to the opening of the Rafa crossing.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak stopped short of announcing the cease-fire. He said: "When calm begins in the Strip, if it begins, it is hard to say how long it will last." However, Barak also said it was important to make all possible efforts toward achieving calm.
