India, Germany signs 8 MoU's out of 12 pacts
India, Germany to sign Twelve agreements- (MoU).

31.10.2007 12:41:55 Twelve agreements and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), including one on defense cooperation and another on Germany's new commitment of 150 million Euros for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects in India, are expected to be signed after the talks.

(live-PR.com) - A wide-ranging talks between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the two countries also decided to bolster cooperation in the fight against terrorism, on climate change issues and UN reforms and pressed for "early, fair and substantive outcome" of stalled Doha talks.


Eight MoU's were signed between India and Germany in New Delhi even as German
Federal Minister for Education and Research Annette Schavan and Kapil Sibal jointly announced the plan to set up a world class research institute in India.In line with the strategy for closer collaboration in science, a bilateral co-operation MoU between their patents offices was also signed Tuesday.

Besides, the two defence ministries inked an agreement on 'mutual protection of classified information', as well as a MoU for co-operation between the postal departments.

Early in the day, Manmohan Singh and Merkel flagged off the Science Express -- a mobile science exhibition on a train at Safdarjung Railway Station in New Delhi that will visit 57 towns across India over the next seven months. It aims to kindle scientific curiosity among the Indian youth.www.pib.nic.in

'Science Express-, a special exhibition mounted on a train as the result of a partnership in science and technology between India and Germany, scientists have uncovered our understanding of the Universe, its beginning, its current size, and many other questions. It also raises issues of sustainable development and how scientists are concerned about finding practical solutions for protecting our planet.

The Visa problems being faced by Indians intending to go to Germany are expected to be raised at the talks.

Germany is looking for joint research and production amid its intent to get IAF's contract for 126 fighter aircraft.

The two sides will sign an agreement for mutual protection of classified documents.
Make an efforts to bolster reforms of the UN Security Council and cooperate in peaceful uses of nuclear energy.India and Germany are part of the G4 process also includes Japan and Brazil, If the Security Council has to reflect contemporary realities, there is need for reforms,' Manmohan Singh said.

'We hope that the IAEA rules are abided by, Once that is in place, Germany and India can do a lot together in peaceful uses of nuclear energy,' Merkel said.She will be visiting Mumbai today to meet captains of Indian Industry
