Police files FIR in connection with AAP protest  Updated on : 22-01-2014 02:29 PM Delhi Police has registered an FIR against unknown persons in connection with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's dharna outside Rail Bhavan in New Delhi that witnessed many violent scuffles in the high-security area where prohibitory orders were in place.  The case was registered at Parliament Street Police Station on Tuesday night under section 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of duty) and section 333(voluntarily causing grievous hurt to deter public servant from duty) of IPC, police sources said.  The two-day dharna by Kejriwal witnessed several altercations between police and AAP workers and at least 31 people, including policemen and media personnel, were injured.  "The cases registered in connection with the agitation on January 20th and 21st in the area of Parliament Street Police Station will be investigated on merit," a statement relea...

No referendum on Catalonia’s independence 22 01 2014 Catalonia’s independence on the rise, Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy has told local media there will be no referendum that “puts into question the sovereignty of the Spanish people” while he is head of the center-right government. “The state is prepared for any scenario that may occur. The law will be enforced. There will be no referendum that calls into question the sovereignty of the Spanish people. The Al-Qaeda-affiliated jihadist group, Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), linked the violence to a peace conference on Syria slated to take place in Switzerland on January 22. The allegations came as Western powers on Monday stepped up pressure on Syria’s divided opposition to take part in the conference alongside representatives of President Bashar al-Assad’s regime. “From January 3 to 11, the fighting killed 697 people, among them 351 rebels, 246 members of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant and 100 civilians,” said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
