Duma poll begins

United Russia ,Communist Party of Russia,Liberal Democratic Party of Russia,A Fair Russia (Mothers/Pensioners/Life), Yabloko,Union of Right Forces, Gorbachev Union of Social Democrats,political outfits are in the fray of election of Lower house called Duma in Russia today 2 Dec 2007 the Polls have begun. Former president of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev founded the Union of Social Democrats in Moscow in month of 20 th Oct 2007 in an attempt to lead Russia towards a social democratic path.Many political outfits are not allowed to participate in the elections. Media reports A total of eleven parties are competing for elections in the lower house, the Duma,each political party to secure the 7% needed to qualify for seats. Global Independent monitors attempts to observe the poll have been hampered.
